Developing Innovation in Shock & Vibration Control

Capshell's patented technology solution incorporates a graphene composite actuator into a dampening system that can adjust its damping and stiffness properties in real-time based on input from motion sensors. The graphene composite actuator operates by altering its properties in response to an applied voltage or current, offering a smart material solution that is highly responsive and adaptable to environmental changes.

To incorporate this technology, the graphene composite material is layered within the system in a way that allows for maximum responsiveness. When voltage is applied, the electrical conductivity of the graphene composite actuator alters its elastic properties, leading to a change in stiffness and damping. This enables it to quickly and automatically adjust to sudden shifts in forces or environmental conditions, significantly reducing damage caused by vibration and shock.

The system is equipped with motion sensors that are able to detect vibration and shock, and the data collected is transmitted to a control unit that interprets the data and produces an output signal, which triggers the required response from the actuator. This results in real-time, accurate and customised shock and vibration dampening solutions.

Capshell aims to develop a next-generation solution for managing downhole shock and vibration to meet the demands of modern drilling, enhancing durability, tool reliability, and drilling efficiency across varied well conditions.
